SNP Calendar / Timeline

Haplogroup J is almost as old as Haplogroup E. It appears to have emerged from western Asia (Near/Middle East). It is heavily present in the Arabian Peninsula. In Europe it is especially present in Italy and southern Spain (near Gibraltar).

Starting around the Neolithic, haplogroup J2 spread from the Arabian Peninsula. The branch of J2 we see in the Collins project spread across Turkey, into southeastern Europe. This J2 branch spent considerable time there. Eventually it worked its way into Europe overall, particularly eastern Europe. This was all well before the Christian era.

J-Y86878 TMRCA has not been updated. There is a gap between Y36972 and the modern terminal SNP FTD38354.

The two J-Y86878 project Collinses are in Cluster 1161.
